Not Just Participation Trophies Are Rubbish. All Trophies Are.
It's spreading widely on the internet that we ruined excellence by handing out participation trophies. I'd like to one up that.
It’s not just that participation trophies are rubbish. It’s that all trophies are rubbish.
If you are actually enjoying what you are doing in an activity and it’s meaningful to you, you won’t need a trophy. Or a celebration in your name. You just won’t.
Think about the things that mean the most to you in life. Don’t you enjoy the activities so much that you have a big fat smile on your face and in your soul while doing it?
What is the need for a trophy or even comparison?! Do what you love, do away with the trophies.
And if what you love IS the competition and the trophies, then my friend, it might be time to rethink life. As Neale Donald Walsch said and channeled from above in his books Conversations With God, and I’m paraphrasing here, “All competition is pointless. No human wins when another loses.”
