To show that something is undesirable or to heal someone so they do not commit unkind deeds often, should we commit the unkind deeds ourselves?

This makes no sense, you might say.

Yet, in some countries, the death penalty exists. Even as I hear that sentence or visualise it, I shudder. Imagine it's you, who's about to be killed. Even if you're imagining it done in a humane way. Your heart shudders too. Be honest.

Here's why. It's against the Soul to be killing for no good reason. For survival in the case of food, maybe. Although hey, the food drops from the trees (sometimes it amazes me how slow we are as humans), but that's another blog article for another day.

Like me, you might have watched rulers of countries on YouTube videos, podcasts, interviews etc., state, that there is no other way to control the population or keep order against certain crimes or acts which endanger the population, such as drug trafficking, for example.

What they mean is, the death penalty serves as a deterrent to stop more people from committing acts like drug trafficking, murder, etc. It's no secret that the consequences of those acts are that people die and the ministers who've spoken about it in different countries have said as much. They'd like to prevent that.

So then... what they're saying in other words is... we're killing people, to show that killing is wrong. Which is stupid. It is stupid that as a whole, as humanity, that that's what we have to resort to and we haven't changed our ways even after realising this.

Let's be clear, it's my guess that these ministers aren't BEING stupid on purpose. They're probably worried. Or stressed. Or tense. I'm quite sure if I had to manage millions of people's lives, I'd be worried too and might resort to actions which I think would keep things under control, in line with my best guesses.

HOWEVER, let's examine this a little closer, because solutions often come from examining the cause, not the symptoms.

If we REMOVE the death penalty around the world, and MORE people start performing the acts that were trying to be prevented with the death penalty, or even if the SAME NUMBER of people commit those acts... here's the bigger question.

WHY ON EARTH... ARE HUMANS MURDERING OTHERS... TRAFFICKING DRUGS... TRAFFICKING HUMANS... RAPING OTHERS... and so on?

Let's examine THAT... because that's the cause. The WHY. Removing the death penalty makes us more humane, sure, and I'm all for it, no arguments there.

It's why I wrote this article... BUT ALSO... Why are members of the apparently "most intelligent species on Earth"... going around doing things like this?

I know the answer, obviously, or I wouldn't write this post this way. I'll let you figure that one out. Feel free to reach out with questions.

If your answer is... "because their society or country or family or social group taught them that..."... go deeper.

WHY did that happen? And keep going... till you get somewhere substantial. Even if your answer is something as dismissive (or in your mind; conclusive) as... "Oh they're just crazy that's why!"... let me remind you (and here's a hint to the actual answer)... that (most) human babies aren't just "born crazy".

Most of these people were the most innocent, happy children (the same people we're examining if you look at the stats, some research shows Hitler was a happy child - wait, do these stats, of how these people who commit these crimes presented at birth or in their childhoods, even exist for most of these "criminals"? Who knows? Maybe we're just so obsessed with punishment and order that we haven't even gathered these stats - because why go deep when you can just annihilate people... right? Problem solved *rolls eyes*).

What happened? What systems have we built on Earth and why have we built systems which lead happy, loving, pure souls... to become violent... divisive, dual-minded... and non-unified?

I urge you to ponder. That is the greatest gift your human body can give to your Soul.
