Over time, if you are talented, skilled, curious, and driven, you will naturally subscribe to ideas.

Courses.
Email lists.
Thought leaders.
Coaches.
Frameworks.

That part is not the problem.

The problem begins when learning turns into accumulation, and accumulation then turns into mental clutter.

I recently deleted a large number of email subscriptions, course follow-ups from creators, saved folders and filtered inbox labels that had followed me from earlier phases of my life. Phases where I was aggressively learning how to build an online business, understand systems, scale creatively, and grow intellectually.

Back then, subscribing made sense. I was absorbing. I was hungry. I was building.

But something subtle happened along the way, as I grew into a course creator, thought leader, coach, consultant and content creator myself.

Instead of actively learning, I started saving knowledge for “later.”
Instead of choosing teachers consciously, I kept everyone around.
Instead of clearing, I organized the clutter and told myself I’d revisit it someday.

I filtered emails into folders so they wouldn’t irritate me daily.
I labeled them instead of deleting them.
I told myself it was all valuable information.

Underneath that, there was a mix of things:
– mild people-pleasing
– fear of missing out
– procrastination disguised as preparation
– and the illusion that more information equals more growth

The truth is simple.

There are nearly eight billion humans on the planet.
Everyone can teach you something.
Your inbox cannot hold eight billion emails.

Learning requires selection - not frikkin hoarding.

Today, I unsubscribe daily. Sometimes from five senders in one sitting. My inbox had crossed roughly 5,000 emails, and this is my personal email — the one brands, clients and collaborators also contact me on. It needed to breathe again.

I now recommend this simple rule:
Subscribe to one or two people who reflect where you are now or slightly ahead of you. Learn deeply. Apply what you need. When you outgrow them, IF you outgrow them, unsubscribe cleanly and move on (maybe to the next subscription, maybe not).

That is not disrespect.
That is evolution.

The most surprising part of this cleanup is not productivity — it’s lightness.

My mind feels quieter.
My decisions feel cleaner.
And 2026 already feels clearer, not because I added something new, but because I removed what I no longer needed.

Progress sometimes looks like building.
And sometimes, it looks like deleting.
